• My Life in Four Paragraphs!

Thank you for stopping in to visit the Carmen Ash Photography blog page! I am Carmen Coblentz, your narrator. I have been professionally photographing weddings, events and portraits for just over 9 years now and have loved every minute of it. I started in the arts in elementary school, at art camps. Over the years, art studio leaned more towards film. I spent the summers at camps learning more about dark room and composition. I joined the middle school yearbook staff and worked on school newspapers. I remember my first camera, a Minolta 35mm. I can still hear the sound it made when you roll the film up and click the shutter!

As time continued, I graduated High School and started freelancing for other photographers and a local magazine. My mom bought me a Canon 35mm to get my business going. I put myself through college, at Coastal Carolina University, with the side money from family sessions and small weddings. A few years after graduation, I made the decision to change our business name to Carmen Ash Photography and became incorporated.

In 2008, I married the sexiest man alive and in 2009 he moved me and our two dogs to Charleston, SC. If there is one thing that I have learned about marriage is you must always respect your husband and love your wife. We were made to walk through life with a partner. Caleb keeps me in check, he calms me down, cheers me up, shows me my faults, and loves me unconditionally. He is an absolute blessing and I am very thankful for him.

On February 4, 2011 Caleb and I gave birth to Miles Ash Coblentz. It is amazing that before this precious child is even born, you love them with every part of you and would instantly give your life for this stranger. Caleb and I are closer than ever and cherish every minute we have with Miles. There are no words that truly describe the feeling we get when we look at him and know that we made him. It gives me goosebumps to even think about it!

I look forward to watching him grow up and sharing my life with you!

Saylor May’s 1st Year Album…

Once again I am shocked at how quickly a year went by and Miss Saylor May is already one year old!  Andrea started her baby package with her pregnancy session.  I photographed Saylor at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months old.  My favorite session was her 9 month at the horse farm!  She just loved the horses and was finally smiling for me!

The New Mr. and Mrs. Tiffany & Clinton McPherson…

Charleston locals, Tiffany and Clinton tied the knot at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.  As Tiffany walked out of the ceremony, Clinton had surprised her with a carriage ride to their reception at the Charleston Aquarium.  The look on her face when she saw it was priceless!  Their reception was awesome and I had so much fun watching everyone dance!!

Congratulations to you both!!

Jessica Horton’s Bridal Portraits…

I met Jessica at bridal boutique Madison Row, in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.  Jessica was open to any downtown locations, so we started in front of the Canon Street Fire Department!  Her new husband and father in law are both longtime firemen.  We got a kick out of the firemen coming out to look at her, but acting like they were just hanging out on the street!  Jessica’s beauty shines all over and the entire session we had people stop us and ask what magazine she was modeling for!
